MORNING MESSAGE
March 5, 2021

by Gayle Gordon

We are held accountable for the faith we place in the words we hear and read. Rest assured that God says what He means and means what He says:

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."
Isaiah 55:11

He is calling our hearts and souls to walk closer to Him; He wants to bless His children.
"Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him."
Matthew 4:19-20

"But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Matthew 8:22

"As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him."
Matthew 9:9

He also said "follow Me" from the hard and painful cross;

"Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."
Matthew 16:24

"So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
Luke 18:22

Jesus never gives you anything to do for Him that you will accomplish well without Him. When He asks you to do something, He is sending you the specific power needed of the Holy Spirit to you, to enable you to do it. He calls us to follow Him and if we try in our own power, we'll fail. We need the Holy Spirit of God, from the get-go.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
John 8:12

This is what I'll call The Lesson of the Vine: “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned."
John 15:5-6

...for without Me, you can do nothing."
In this statement, we follow Christ;
"I can of Myself do nothing..." (John 5:30)

With Him, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13
Again, we follow our Savior;
"Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”
Revelation 21:5a

Jesus is preparing a place for you as you read this. A place where you will continue - you will live eternally, seeking His will and doing all things in Him who strengthens you. That construct won't change. Heaven is not clouds and harps and getting lazy. It will be tailor-made to bless each of us abundantly beyond all that we can ever imagine, to be with Him, walk and talk with Him and to continue to follow Him. "Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven" helps us self-assess; am I following Him now as closely as I will want to when I actually see Him?
