MORNING MESSAGE
February 20, 2021

by Gayle Gordon

"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:1-2

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:17

The 'law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus' works in everyone who believes in Him. And many who believe in Him can testify of something they did in their past for which they still feel guilty. Paul talks about feeling guilty in Romans 7;
"I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good."
Romans 7:15-16 NLT

Feeling guilty can take over and torment our hearts and minds. We can get stuck on what we did and replay it, over and over. Our sin tries to become our identity through guilt. We are denying the power of Christ's forgiveness when we dwell on our sins. In Christ, that's gone. Ask Him to help you turn the page and keep going.

Paul goes on to say "I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin [nature] living in me that does it."
Romans 7:19-20 NLT

We constantly battle our old nature. We all fall short of the glory of God, but we have total forgiveness in Christ Jesus. Sin does leave consequences;
"Then David confessed to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied, “Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won’t die for this sin. Nevertheless, because you have shown utter contempt for the word of the Lord by doing this, your child will die.” 2 Samuel 12:13-14 NLT
But in Christ, the consequences do not define us any more than the sin did. Guilt has been destroyed in the blood of Jesus and we live by His rules now: confess and repent and be forgiven and restored to purity and righteousness in Him. Believe it! Live it! Proclaim it out loud! Rejoice and be thankful for it!

To repeat:
"So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1 NLT

"Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]." Romans 8:1 - AMP

"So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.
Romans 8:1 - TPT (The Passion Translation)

You have been declared Not Guilty! God sees you through the righteousness of His only Son and He has forgiven you and set you free. Walk in His grace today.
