MORNING MESSAGE
January 21, 2021

by Gayle Gordon

"Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face continually."
1 Chronicles 16:11

"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth."
Psalm 34:1

"Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord; Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me."
Psalm 40:11

'Continually' is another word for 'faithfully'. Walking with Christ is a continual lifestyle. Being faithful is developing behaviors and attitudes we return to and repeat until we do it without thinking. It becomes a part of us. You put energy into learning to balance on two wheels to ride a bike; in time, your balance is established and you'll glide easily over rough roads or smooth.

We should often bring to mind our first discovery of Jesus Christ's love for us and our salvation experience.
"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you." (2 Timothy 1:6 NLT)
We all began our life in Christ at some point. Our love and enthusiasm has gone through phases; spiritual maturity is developed in our continuing; in our faithfulness.

Faithfulness involves developing new habits. Some find that very difficult. It's the work of the enemy to distract you and remove or cloud memories; pray for clarity of mind and memory:
"For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints."
(1 Corinthians 14:33)

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
(2 Timothy 1:7)

"But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16 NLT)

It is great joy to turn to God in every thought and situation; being God's child means you're never alone or abandoned; whatever you are going through consists of two factors: (1) it is a season and will pass, and (2) it has purpose and God is using it to teach you and to bless you. It's working for good in your life. Continue in Him no matter what.

"Search for the Lord and for His strength; continually seek Him. Remember the wonders He has performed, His miracles, and the rulings He has given, (Psalm 105:4-5 NLT)

"Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name." (Hebrews 13:15 NLT)

In this world of constant distractions, developing a habit of faithful worship and prayer can be extremely challenging. Make your best effort and pray that the Lord will help you with your schedule. Allow Him to prioritize your activities. Let go of some things to make time for Him. Watch Him do miracles as you make a stubborn commitment to honor and love Him first, last and always.

Developing a habit of faithful and consistent obedience to Him is hard work but you will not be alone. Dare to commit it all to Him. His presence with you will change your life.

"The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring." (Isaiah 58:11 NLT)
