MORNING MESSAGE
February 17, 2020
by Gayle Gordon
"Give ear to my words, O Lord,
Consider my meditation.
Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up." Psalm 5:1-3
Morning - daybreak - first light. Early morning is like no other part of the day. Newness, fresh start, dawn.
"Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You." Psalm 143:8
We each start a new day, every day, regardless of the time on a clock. We all have a dawn of new light - an opportunity to be alone with our God, to begin again. The Lord gives us an opportunity to renew and refresh - to continue to gain more strength, more faith, to take a step closer to Him.
"They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; For the majesty of the Lord they shall cry aloud from the sea.
Therefore glorify the Lord in the dawning light, The name of the Lord God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea."
Isaiah 24:14-15
Every day we wake up with this opportunity; we can renew our decision to live in and for Jesus Christ with all our hearts, strengths and minds. We have the opportunity to put our will and ways on the alter and take up His instead.
"The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.”
Matthew 4:16
This dawn does not obey a clock; it is in the soul.
"Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds." Psalm 57:8-10 NLT
This dawn occurs when we decide to commit everything we are and everything we have, to the Lord Jesus Christ. No more nominal surrenders. No more marginal involvement in Him.
"Therefore glorify the Lord in the dawning light, The name of the Lord God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea."
Isaiah 24:15
The enemy wants to convince you that the Way of Christ will somehow deny you pleasures and fulfilled desires. That you'll "miss out" on the joys of life and never reach your own goals or see your dreams become reality. That's all lies. In fact, things do change in Christ - and so do you.
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2
New every morning; your transformation is the proof to the world that what God intends when He calls you to follow Him is to save, to heal and to bless you.
"... I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning..."
Psalm 59:16a
GOODmorning!!
